Grassroots Democracy in Cambodia | Subtitle : Oppounities, Challenges, and Prospects
Abstract : Ts is a study undertaken with the aim of finding ways to strengthen civil society in Cambodia. Here we must confess that we are talking about a modern, post-Cold war, western interpretation of "civil society", but there is also a strong commitment to try and perceive any indications regarding the uniquely Cambodian version. Observation reports in this study state that Cambodian democracy cannot be imported from outside and that in order for the development of grassroots democracy to be more effective, the government, nation assembly, civil society, and the people should work together in a meaningful and constructive partnership.
