Abstract :
ASEAN Summit 2012 should be an alarm call for Indonesia to face the ASEAN Economic Community which will be in force in 2015. Unfortunately, although the realisation of the new era of ASEAN economic integration is imminent, many of us still do not understand AEC comprehensively. Essentially, AEC is not meant to transform ASEAN as an integrated economic community just like European Union. It aims only to make a single market and a single production base to minimize costs and to maximize profits in the regional trade. Nevertheless, it also should be realized that AEC will bring a great consequences to national economy. Without a well preparation, it is feared that Indonesia will only be a market and spectator in its own lands.
