This book is about the changing relationship between America and Asia in the wake of the global economic crisis. Events from late 2008 to the end of 2009 are the focus - from the collapse of the Lehman Brothers Bank in New York and the start of the global financial and economic crisis up to the first visit by the new U.S. president, Barack Obama, to Asia. The book also analysis draws on trends that have emerged over the past decade, especially since the 1997-1998 crises that rippled across Asia, and it projects trends out into the future post-crisis years.
