Abstract :
Soejoedi (1928-1981) is one of Indonesian architects who establish a new architecture for the newly emerging Republic of Indonesia and also a great architect with his own ways for the nation building of Indonesia. Soejoedi understands monumentality in terms of classical architecture with strong geometrical form and sophisticated proportion, composition, and juxtaposition. Among those are the Indonesian Parliament compound, Indonesian Embassies in Kuala Lumpur, Beograd and Kolombo as well as Ministry of Transportation, Forestry and Agriculture compound. Soejoedi is also the architect of the ASEAN Secretariat Building which was constructed in 1978 to 1981. This book is a symbol of appreciation to Soejoedi for his masterpiece in Indonesian Architecture.
