Abstract : The most striking similarity among the Southeast Asian nations habeen the post independence movement from diffuse feelings of nationalism into strong nationalist loyalties. the nasionalist movement has manifested itself in various ways, but the roots lie in the common colonia history exprienced by all these nations as well as their common subjugation by the Japanese during World War II. Many of the problems of economic and political development faced by Southeast Asian leaders today can be traced to common historical colonial patterns.
