It combines magnificent mountain scenery and slow journeys down the Mekong with an almost French ambience and the special charm of a devoutly religious, gentle people. Cambodia, the most popular tourist destination in Asia in the 1960s, is a t last rebuilding its tourist infrastructure. Although parts of the country remain closed to tourists, the magnificent temples of Angkor may still be visited.
