In many traditional societies of ASEAN, the folk media continue to be as popular as they were for many decades or even centuries. This is very logical since these societies are not yet completely dominated by the mass media; it it is also auspicious, considering that many ASEAN countries, like Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand, are now in the process of defining themselves as modern nations.
