Abstract :
Sociological research on South-East Asia is still in to come to its maturity. In most South-East Asian universities, many of which were founded only after World War II, sociology departments were introduced only recently. Sociological research has, however, increased rapidly during the past decade, carried out partly by foreign scholars and partly by foreign-trained staff members of South-East Asian universities.
