For if ASEAN succeeds at what it is doing, there will be more and better opportunities for the breadwinners of Southeast Asia and their families. In language simple enough for the layman, this booklet explains what ASEAN Economic Cooperation is all about. That is, what ASEAN has done and is doing to help create jobs for Southeast Asians and bring about a better life for the present and future generations of Southeast Asians.
This booklet is the first of a series of simply worded and brief writings on the work of ASEAN and how ASEAN works. The series is a project of the ASEAN Secretariat and the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information (COCIJ designed to help people understand how ASEAN figures in their lives.
