Beyond borders: Reportage from our Mekong | Subtitle :
Abstract : This book is the seventh compilation of article and photo essays, the work of journalist-fellows in the Imaging Our Mekong media fellowship programme that IPS Asia-Pacific has implemented with its partner, Probe Media Foundation Inc, since 2002.
‘Beyond Borders’ (198 pages) takes readers along different journeys in the changing Mekong Region —whether it is a glimpse into jade mining in Burma, how Thai-Lao history is coloured by national lenses, Thai and Tibetan amulets, the state of elephants in Thailand and Laos, the often emotional discussions around China’s dams on the Lancang, or China’s growing economic footprint in the Mekong Region.
All of these are stories, reported from within the region and mostly originally written in local languages, by the 16 writers and photojournalists from Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam who make up the seventh group of fellows in the Imaging Our Mekong programme.
